Great Notion Brewing is a 7 BBL brewery and tap room in Portland, Oregon located at 2204 NE Alberta #101 (next to Pine State Biscuits). We focus primarily on juicy, hazy IPA’s and culinary-inspired sours and stouts.
Our barrel program is hosted both in on-site and off-site locations where our American sour ales age for 9-24 months in oak barrels and clay amphoras. A portion of our sour ales are blended with Summer Oregon fruit like peaches, apricots, strawberries, and cherries. Freshly emptied Bourbon barrels age our imperial stout on ingredients like roasted coffee, vanilla beans, chocolate, and maple syrup.
When it comes to brewing creative craft beer, we realize the immense talent within this city. We’ve been inspired by many, in Portland and beyond. We wouldn’t be here without the brewers who came before us, those who took chances, tried something new, and shared their experience.
The Great Notion cofounders are: James Dugan, Andy Miller, and Paul Reiter. The creative and delicious food menu at Great Notion Brewing was created by our chef and long time friend, Ryan O'Connor.
We should be opening our new NW / Slabtown 30 bbl production brewhouse by the end of 2017 with a new brewpub opening in the same location in the Spring of 2018.
